The War for Talent - an Event to Remember?

On Thursday 27th September Intramezzo hosted its “War for Talent” networking event, attended by 90 business people with experience in IPOs, senior executive roles, providing professional services to companies, the Asian markets, as well as those pursuing careers as interim managers or who were members of the Power8 team.

On Thursday 27th September Intramezzo hosted its “War for Talent” networking event, attended by 90 business people with experience in IPOs, senior executive roles, providing professional services to companies, the Asian markets, as well as those pursuing careers as interim managers or who were members of the Power8 team.

During the evening one of the Directors of Intramezzo, Dermot Hill, gave a short presentation to highlight the key issues in the “War for Talent” and how Intramezzo is helping to build the resources for its clients to attract top senior executive talent to interim and permanent roles.

Hill referred to the “iceberg effect” of taking into account an organisation’s culture against the specification of the candidate when sourcing effectively: 20% of a successful appointment is judged against the specification while the remaining 80% “below water” associated with culture can make or break a successful appointment.

He also went on to describe how the company is building a network of interim managers, called ‘The Boulevard’, which is where interims can gather on the internet.

Intramezzo has now hosted several of these events and is building a loyal following of those wanting to return.

Comments from this evening included: “that single event alone was more productive than all the other conventional channels and personal contact milking that four already well connected individuals achieved during the entire venture capital search phase! Within twelve weeks we had three candidates close to our dream profile and within four months an outstanding offer to join the project…. It just goes to show that good networking skills alone are not the answer, but selecting a high quality event like Intramezzo’s where they created the environment and controlled the careful selection of those that attended made for a great deal.”
