Consumer Retailing via Smartphones
Chief Marketing Officer

Location: South East England

Our client is building a high volume consumer sales & retailing business using the smartphone as their key platform. They have the ambition to achieve a £200m valuation within three years, delivered through a brand leading position and an aggressive pursuit of international sales, with an initial focus on the UK. This award winning company with highly innovative gifting technology is already achieving some impressive conversion ratios and sales traction.

This unique opportunity will suit a senior executive who is entrepreneurial in their approach and has the intellect and the energy to form and lead a world-class marketing team. The role will involve working closely with the two founders and their highly connected and experienced Chairman.

This board level role requires a track record in delivering successful consumer ‘mobile’ and internet marketing campaigns into multiple countries. You will have been formative in building marketing teams and working and negotiating with product suppliers and a range of outsourced service suppliers.

Direct experience of building and refining customer propositions using the appropriate information feeds is required. The role will initially entail delivery in all key direct marketing disciplines with these areas being deployed to subject matter specialists as the company continues to develop.

These disciplines include: ‘offer’ optimisation, customer acquisition, service and loyalty development as well advertising and campaign performance management, brand management, merchandising, PR and the selection and management of agencies. The successful candidate will be experienced in integrating with the sales function in a highly sales driven company.

As this is an early stage venture, ideally you will have been part of a team involved in fund raising and preferably an exit. Large company experience is of interest when this is combined with a track record built in one or a number of early stage entrepreneurial ventures.

The location is South East England and visiting the company regularly and ultimately being willing to relocate if necessary is a requirement of this role. Relevant consumer marketing qualifications will be of advantage.
